Driessens & Verstappen, Hot Pool.
On Monday, April 26 from 18:00 to 20:00, BALTAN Laboratories hosts an evening around generative art and design in relation to architecture, space and spaciality, as part of our current Poeme Numerique research. This BALTAN Session will feature presentations by artists Driessens & Verstappen (NL) and Paul Prudence (UK). Erwin Driessens and Maria Verstappen research the possibilities that physical, chemical and computer algorithms can offer for the development of image generating processes. Paul Prudence is an artist and real-time visual performer working with generative/computational systems, audio responsive visual feedback and processed video.

BIOGRAPHIES
Driessens & Verstappen
The Amsterdam based artist couple Erwin Driessens and Maria Verstappen have worked together since 1990. After their study at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, they jointly developed a multifaceted oeuvre of software, machines and objects. Their research focuses on the possibilities that physical, chemical and computer algorithms can offer for the development of image generating processes. Driessens & Verstappen participated in numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums, they give lectures and presentations at universities, art academies, festivals and conferences in the Netherlands and abroad. In 1999 and 2001 their Tickle robot projects have been awarded first prize at LIFE, an international competition for Art & Artificial Life. Paul Prudence
Paul Prudence is an artist and real-time visual performer working with generative/computational systems, audio responsive visual feedback and processed video. He is particularly interested in the ways in which sound, space and form can be synthaesthetically amalgamated. He is a writer, researcher and lecturer in the field of visual music, process art, and computational design.
