BALTAN Laboratories initiates, supports and disseminates innovative research and development activities in the field of art, technology and culture. A two-year pilot initiative located in the SWA building in Strijp S in Eindhoven, BALTAN Laboratories is a first step towards a broader Art Science Lab in the former NatLab (Philips physics laboratory). BALTAN Laboratories actively pursues new collaborations between disciplines and acts as point of intersection for artists working with technology in Eindhoven and beyond.

We accomplish this mission through:

• the development of specific research projects in the field of art, technology and culture;
• the investigation, further development and promotion of the art and technology lab concept through practice;
• the development of new relationships between art and technology;
• the open and transparent dissemination and discussion of developed research, technologies and knowledge;
• the provision of facilities in Eindhoven for local and international creative practitioners to interact and innovate through the meeting of art and technology.

Missie

BALTAN Laboratories initieert, ondersteunt en verspreidt innovatief onderzoek en vernieuwende activiteiten op het gebied van kunst, technologie en cultuur. BALTAN Laboratories is een twee jaar durend proefproject in het  SWA-gebouw op Strijp S in Eindhoven en daarmee een eerste stap in de richting van een breder Art Science Lab in het voormalige NatLab (natuurkundelaboratorium Philips). BALTAN Laboratories streeft actief naar nieuwe samenwerkingsverbanden tussen disciplines en fungeert als kruispunt voor kunstenaars die werken met technologie in Eindhoven en daarbuiten.

Deze taak volbrengen we door:

• de ontwikkeling van specifieke onderzoeksprojecten op het gebied van kunst, technologie en cultuur;
• onderzoek naar, verdere ontwikkeling en bevordering van het kunst- en technologielabconcept in de praktijk;
• de ontwikkeling van nieuwe relaties tussen kunst en technologie;
• de open, transparante verspreiding van en gedachtewisseling over ontwikkeld(e) onderzoek, technologieën en kennis;
• het aanbieden van faciliteiten in Eindhoven aan lokale en internationale creatieven voor interactie en innovatie door de ontmoeting van kunst en technologie.
