Join our AI & Art Workshop and create your dream neighbourhood using cutting-edge technology. Work with AI tools like ChatGPT and Dall-e and make your voice heard! Eat fries with a special AI-infused sauce and take home a t-shirt to wear the ideas you developed during the workshop.

AI in the hood, which is part of ‘Machines for Good’, is a project to creatively engage residents in their neighbourhood using artificial intelligence (AI) and art. In a 2-hour session, participants will be introduced to AI tools (chatbots like ChatGPT for texts or image-based tools like Dall-e and Midjourney) and use them to spark their imagination about their neighbourhood needs and desires. Through the AI inputs, neighbours will be guided in creating quick prototypes of their ideas (2D or 3D) and sharing them in their community.

After the workshop, the neighbourhood is invited to join us for fries and drinks to hear about the ideas developed. But the ideas will also be travelling around the neighbourhood afterwards: through the help of an illustrator, the prototypes will become illustrations for T-shirts for the participants and posters in the community centre.

The workshop is facilitated by designer Pedro Gil Farias from Humankind, a Rotterdam-based organisation for urban change and organized by Baltan Laboratories, a cultural indisciplinary lab focusing on societal issues, based in Eindhoven.

Join us on Saturday April 1 from 15:00 to 18:00 at De Buut, the community centre of Rochusbuurt (Hoefkestraat 42A). If you can’t join the workshop but you are curious about the results, you are invited to come at 17:30 for a drink and fries.

You can register for free by sending an email to Sarie (sarie@baltanlaboratories.org) or telling Frank van der Laak from De Buut.

AI in the Hood is part of Machines for Good. Machines for Good contributes to building a more desirable future by using AI as a tool for the engagement of (young) people and address sustainable behavior. The project investigates the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for civic purposes, in line with the priority on e-democracy. Machines for good increase teeneagers’ awareness of AI and teenagers’ participation and engagement in current technological issues. The projects also raise the attention of policy makers on AI as a driver of participation, if combined with arts.

Machines for Good is a project led by Sineglossa, in collaboration with Ohme, Fundación Zaragoza Ciudad del Conocimiento and Baltan Laboratories, in association with ITSS Cambi Serrani, Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza, and Université Libre de Bruxelles. The project is co-funded by the European Union within the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Value) programme.
