Presenting the outcomes of the 2026 Raise Your Voice Fellowship through workshops and expositions

In the last three months, Baltan worked with 3 young talents in the creative sector, developing their practices while exploring ideas of alchemy in the 21st century, a red thread running through their current projects.

As follows is more information about the events on offer during their 3-day Expo at the Albert Van Abbehuis.

    About the Fellowship
Raise Your Voice is a talent development program aimed at helping recent graduates in creative professions position themselves in both the content of their work and the practical aspects of their profession.

This year, for the 3rd edition of the program, we offered not only a focus on talent development but also space for the development of the titular 21st-century alchemist. The alchemist here is a metaphor. It represents a way of working: experimenting with what’s possible, combining knowledge across fields, and embracing imagination as a tool for discovery.

    Workshop Descriptions

Invasive Remedy: Workshop by Yi Zhang and Eshwari Ramsali | 13/04 | 17:00 - 20:00h

This reflective, hands-on session invites participants to explore healing practices as mutual aid using plants often labeled as invasive. Together, we will recreate 2-3 of the recipes in person, involving the following techniques: tinctures, ferments, balm/salves, and discuss safe foraging techniques transforming “unwanted” plants into ‘healer’ kin. Through these gestures we will turn narratives of exclusion into gestures of care.

    Dark Wood: Workshop by Mikolaj Stojanowicz | 14/04 | 19:00 - 21:00h

Dark Wood is a live, articipatory ritual that invites you into a magic circle, a bounded space where ordinary rules dissolve, and a different logic takes hold. Guided by a repetitive mantra, you will be invited to approach charcoal covered scrolls and begin to erase. Rather than a conscious imposition of an image, you converse with the grain of the charcoal, the noise of the material, which reveals hidden patterns under the surface. When paths meet, you connect harmoniously. When the mind wanders, the mantra is your lighthouse. You are invited to inhabit a process, a collective cartography of the unconscious, where the traces we leave are artifacts of a shared transformation. After the ritual, we gather to reflect, to discuss the methods of alchemy, active imagination, and the inner guide that emerged from the wood.

    Syntax of the Unconscious: Workshop by Mikolaj Stojanowicz | 15/04 | 17:00 - 19:00h

Syntax of the Unconscious is a hands-on exploration of how we can become aware of our awareness. Participants will be guided through experiments in cut-ups and the repetition of mantra as a tool for focusing awareness. No prior experience is needed, only curiosity and a willingness to play. The session will include a live introduction to the cut-up method, where participants are invited to cut and rearrange their own texts. We then move into a conversation about the theory behind this method, connecting shamanism with the legacy of Burroughs and Gysin, the "Third Mind" that emerges from collaboration, and the forgotten connection between language and magic. The workshop closes with an introduction to the Grimoire project, a participative archive of language reshaping processes, and an invitation to contribute your
    own discoveries.
Homework: Bring a printed page of a text about yourself.

    Misery Mixer | Experience by Yi Zhang and Eshwari Ramsali | 15/04 | 19:00 - 21:00h

This is an immersive participatory experience rooted in play, care and ritual practice. Participants are invited into what is essentially a speculative party to hold the enormity of both the grief of alienation, and the joy of place-making, while creating and sharing medicinal 'bracers' (short drinks commonly referred to as shots), stories, and readings with each other. Provided are different ingredients to choose from; such as teas, tisanes, syrups, tinctures and ferments, which are then being amalgamated to create concoctions. As we 'cheers' at designated intervals, we allow ourselves to transform our intentions into practice, and as we ingest, we let the collective gut mutate our tongues in the ways we've always let language mutate our bodies.
