Build your own DIY Tunable Kalimba with musician and inventor Yuri Landman!

This workshop offers hands-on learning in a relaxed, inventive atmosphere - ideal for anyone interested in sound, music technology or DIY instruments.

Join this workshop led by Yuri Landman and discover creative strategies for building musical instruments from scratch.

Inspired by the Mbira, an African thumb piano and reimagined for contemporary musicians, this unique instrument blends intimacy and innovation. Yuri Landman's Tunable Kalimba features a built-in pickup for amplification and an extended bridge for precise tuning, moving effortlessly from acoustic tones to electric soundscapes.

Through the creation of the kalimba, participants are invited to explore new tunings, textures, and tonal possibilities. The adjustable design gives freedom in sound, harmony or style. Handcrafted with Landman’s signature approach to experimental instrument design, the Tunable Kalimba is an instrument, a creative tool, and a sculptural object, merging both music and art in a compact piece you can take home with you.

    Date: Saturday, March 14 | 15:00-18:00
Location: Blablalab, Kastanjelaan 500 5604 EA Eindhoven
