Quantum Time Capsule and DIY Time Travel by Rasheedah Philips
Using Afrofuturism and science fiction as a lens and Octavia Butler’s novel ‘Kindred’ as inspiration, this workshop by Rasheedah Phillips explores and experiments with how one can time travel with everyday tools such as memory, imagination, manipulation of language and perceptions. Learn how to time travel with ordinary tools. Interdisciplinary social practice artist (and lawyer) Rasheedah Phillips considers how afrofuturism can be used by disenfranchised communities to create safer spaces for visioning and testing of ideas around community sustainability, resilience, and resistance, and as a technology for practical implementation of those ideas.

Everyday life and spiritual practices in nomadic culture by Chinara Seidakhmatova
This Day of Learning explores the main principles of nomadic living in Kyrgyzstan under the guidance of Chinara Seidakhmatova, expert in nomadic culture. She will talk about the heritage that her family has been fostering from one generation to the next. The traditional religion practiced by the nomadic Kyrgyz culture is called Tengri, which means ‘Blue Sky’. Tengri is all about the intricate connection with nature. It revolves around the sun deity and focuses on balance with nature, incorporating characteristics of shamanism, animism, both polytheism and monotheism, and ancestor worship. Chinara Seidakhmatova will have 2 Days of Learning, on Oct 24th in People’s Pavillion, and on Oct 26th in the Van Abbemuseum.

Exercise of Empathic Movements by Vivian Tauchmann
Participate in this choreography and perform body exercises and movements from certain situations that we normally try to avoid or keep far from us. Vivien Tauchmann developed a choreography and re-embodied scenography based on the gestures and movements of the alienated other. This choreography will take shape as an exercise class, in which anyone can join. People that will participate will perform body exercises and movements from certain situations that we normally try to avoid or keep far from us. Through this direct confrontation participants will be thrown in to a reality of others; in the first case study routines of textile workers will be activated in order to reflect on the influence as fashion consumers, and citizens of the so-called western society.

Army of Love by Ingo Niermann
Join Army of Love founder Ingo Niermann and bonding coach Mirjana Smolic for some practical exercises to enhance our mutual love. ‘Army of Love’ is a project of diverse practitioners that aims for an intimate completion of justice. It’s because even in a society where there is access to basic needs, commodities, and structures, attractiveness is not distributed equally, often leaving out those considered to be old, ugly or unsuccessful. The practitioners of the Army strive to offer all-encompassing love—one that includes diverse forms of care, desire, sex, and respect—to all those who need it. Join Army of Love founder Ingo Niermann and bonding coach Mirjana Smolic for some practical exercises to enhance our mutual love.

Museum of Edible Earth by Masha Ru
Geophagy is the practice of eating earth or soil-like materials. The importance of touching or eating earth is present in many cultures. During the last months Masha Ru Studio has been building up an extensive database of soils for oral use available on the market. More than 400 different types of soils from more than 20 different countries have been purchased through internet and in cultural shops to form the basis for The Museum of Edible Earth. For her Day of Learning she would like to invite the audience to experience some of the soils and talk about their content, as well as discuss possible stimuli for geophagy.
