Period: End of September – End of March (6 months)

    Final deadline: 25th September 2025

Explore in(ter)disciplinarity behind the fusion of art, design, and technology at Baltan Laboratories by engaging with communities, transforming the makerspace of BlaBlaLab and bringing people together for improvised fun events.

Baltan Laboratories is a cultural indisciplinary lab based in Eindhoven. We focus on societal issues through a relational approach, creating spaces to rehearse living otherwise. We believe that the increasing complexity of our world and of the challenges we have to face no longer allow for a strictly disciplinary, reductionist and Western-based approach. In a world full of uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, the interactions and exchanges between different disciplines are fundamental to achieving a relational approach that responds to the environmental, political, social, economic and technological issues we must address today. We can no longer divide a problem into its parts, deal with those in separate disciplines and then recompose them in a solution. In 2025, Baltan confronts new issues arising from the prevalence of technology, exploring how alternative approaches can help us live otherwise. How can we imagine a diverse and plural technological landscape resistant to the lure of capital?

As Community Builder, the intern will look at building long-term and short-term sustainable relationships with other organisations, communities and student groups in Eindhoven. The idea is to reach beyond the yearly program curated by Baltan, introducing various events, engaging with local communities, both residents and students, and collaborating with other artists and organisations to improvise and create context-based, urgent yet fun events. As we continue to build our BlaBlaLab makerspace, the internship period will also involve making this space as welcoming, friendly, and lively as possible. When speaking of communities, one of the primary tasks consists of discovering and building Baltan’s volunteer group, which would be a beautiful addition to any events happening in the city. Additional tasks would also include assisting with production activities hosted by Baltan Laboratories, as well as writing and reporting summaries of the events hosted.
