    Join the hackathon!

Baltan announces a great opportunity to join and to start developing your own experience. BALTAN Laboratories and SENSIKS. will host a three-day Hackathon that integrates the knowledge and technology of the SENSIKS. platform and biometric sensing in their program.

UPDATE: Deadline extended! Make sure to apply before March 20.

SENSIKS. launches Sensory Reality as a whole new domain in the augmented- and virtual reality realm. The SENSIKS. Sensory Reality Pod allows everyone to create mixed-immersive experiences. A typical experience consists of audiovisual components, scents, temperature, airflow, vibration, taste and light frequencies. Your experience is brought to live by various hardware stimuli modules mounted inside the cabin. This modular hardware is linked to a user-friendly software platform on which everyone can compose custom experiences. You can build your experiences based on your own content or by using the content libraries provided by SENSIKS. Starting mid March, Baltan will have one of the SENSIKS. cabins available on-site for experimentation purposes.

The new SENSIKS. promo gives a great impression of the possibilties.

    About the Hackathon

As part of this collaboration, Baltan announces a great opportunity to join and to start developing your own experience. BALTAN Laboratories and SENSIKS. will host a three-day Hackathon that integrates the knowledge and technology of the SENSIKS. platform and biometric sensing in their program. The sessions are open for a wide set of participants interested to co-create an immersive mixed reality experience. Are you a gamer, musician, AR/VR fanatic, artist, designer, creative engineer? Have you ever dreamed of enhancing, creating, or inventing multi-sensory and immersive experiences? Make sure to apply for one of the seats.

    Practical information:
The Hackathon will be organized during the week of STRP Biënnale 2017. For Thursday evening, we have free tickets for Hackathon participants. Also, we provide lunch, drinks and small bites throughout the three days. Participants should bring their own laptop. Additional sensors and required technologies can be discussed with the technical program board upon request via baltan [AT] sensiks.com.

We allow a maximum of 15 participants and the Hackathon is free of charge. If you want to join, please register and convince us why we should give you one of the seats. Please note: the closing date for registrations is March 20.

On Thursday, the Hackathon will end with a presentation to a jury. The jury will consist of a.o. Fred Galstaun (Founder of SENSIKS.), Olga Mink (Director Baltan Laboratories).

All experiences considered of sufficient quality will earn a spot on the SENSIKS. experience-download platform where they can be shared with others. Similar to app-stores, the creator of the experience stays owner of their creation and can decide on a free or payed distribution. The winning experience gets the title of “World’s first SENSIKS. Experience jockey” and will be put forward by SENSIKS. to potential clients looking to hire creatives in programming experiences for them.

The hackathon is a project in collaboration with Creative Tracks, a pilot project entrusted to a consortium of eight partners from five different European countries, active worldwide. Creative Tracks is co-funded by the European union and seeks to enhance international exchanges of experience, improving access of local culture practitioners and creative professionals to networks around the world. Program outlines:
The Baltan hackathon evolves around the knowledge exchange between creative entrepreneurs and representatives from knowledge centers and technological industry. The topics addressed are related to Hack the Body, a research program initiated by Baltan Laboratories, dealing with the notion of our increased dependency and immersion with (wearable) technology and the notion of what it means to be human in a networked technological society.
