As part of BALTAN Laboratories’ Blueprint programme, which aims to investigate the role and forms of an art and technology laboratory of the future, we have invited artists and designers Jonathan Puckey and Edo Paulus to lead a unique workshop at BALTAN to explore new ways of working, collaborating and communicating in interdisciplinary creative situations. Participants in the workshop consist of individuals from a variety of disciplines and sectors who work creatively with technology.
Synopsis:
In 2008, four dutch designers/artists (Luna Maurer, Edo Paulus, Roel Wouters and Jonathan Puckey) wrote the Conditional Design Manifesto. The manifesto promotes the idea of showing processes instead of fixed, designed results. Through the design of intelligible logical conditions, processes are stimulated that result in unpredicted emergent patterns.
In the Conditional Drawing workshop at BALTAN the participants, in small groups, will create collaborative drawings based on simple rules. These sessions stimulate absurd associating, collaboration, expression of half-finished ideas, discovery of personal affections and aversions and new fantasy worlds.
