BALTAN Sessions

BALTAN Laboratories will provide an open space for artists and other creative practitioners working with technology to meet, exchange, work and investigate cross disciplinary borders and methodologies. One of the ways it will do this is by opening up the lab regularly for informal (but programmed) meetings for exchange between practitioners working in the fields of art, technology, industry, science, design. These sessions will be designed in close cooperation with interested individuals from local and international organisations. This open platform will also encourage and inform future research to be undertaken in BALTAN Laboratories.

BALTAN Sessions

BALTAN Laboratories verschaft een open ruimte waar kunstenaars en andere creatieven die met technologie werken elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, ideeën kunnen uitwisselen, werken en de grenzen van disciplines en methodologieën kunnen opzoeken. Dit gebeurt onder andere door het laboratorium geregeld open te stellen voor informele (maar geplande) uitwisselingsbijeenkomsten onder de naam BALTAN Sessions. BALTAN werkt voor deze bijeenkomsten nauw samen met belangstellenden van lokale en internationale organisaties. Dit open platform nodigt ook uit tot en informeert over toekomstig onderzoek in BALTAN Laboratories.

BALTAN collaborated again this year with the Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven ICT & Lifestyle programme’s Art & Technology minor from February-June 2010. BALTAN also worked from April to June 2010 with a group of 1st year IM Masters students at Design Academy Eindhoven.

From December 3-5, 2009, BALTAN participated in Organized Networks, a Training Programme for Cultural Network Management in Riga, Latvia.

Artists Wendy Ann Mansilla and Jordi Puig presented their new work Flick Flock, developed in residency at BALTAN Laboratories, at Galleri 3,14 in Bergen, Norway, in the Piksel09 exhibition from November 20, 2009 – January 10, 2010. It was also shown at Campus Party Brazil in Sao Paulo in January 2010.
