The coming period will focus on working towards a definitive blueprint for BALTAN Laboratories based on research undertaken in the lab and artistic practice. Together with the artistic advisors, BALTAN will work to create a lab that is flexible, open and modular in which research at the crossroads of art, technology and culture can be undertaken, built upon and disseminated. In the building and reconstruction plans for the renowned Philips NatLab building at Strijp S, a space has already been allocated for such a lab. BALTAN Laboratories will examine in theory and in practice the roles and forms the laboratory can take when pursued. The activities that form part of this exploration fall under our Blueprint programme. This will consist of an extensive programme of feasibility studies, expert meetings, research projects and documentation.

Blueprint programma

De komende periode wordt benut om te komen tot een definitieve blueprint voor Baltan Laboratories waarbij wordt uitgegaan van de praktijk van het doen van onderzoek en het maken van kunst. Het doel is om samen met de artistieke adviseurs een lab te creëren dat flexibel, open en modulair is en waar onderzoek wordt gedaan op het snijvlak van kunst, technologie en cultuur. In de bouw- en reconstructieplannen voor het befaamde Philips NatLab-gebouw op Strijp S is al rekening gehouden met zo’n lab. BALTAN onderzoekt in praktijk en theorie de mogelijke rollen en vormen die het lab kan aannemen, met activiteiten die vallen onder het zogenaamde ‘Blueprint programma’. Dit veelomvattende programma bestaat uit haalbaarheidsonderzoeken, expertmeetings, onderzoeksprojecten en documentatie.
